Pikmin respond to three basic commands: throwing, rallying, and sorting. Winged Pikmin are excellent aerial combatants but weak against any other enemy. Despite their stony hide, they are still vulnerable to fire. They are the only Pikmin who can easily cross pools and retrieve submerged materials. They are also fast diggers.īlue Pikmin are immune to the effects of water. Yellow Pikmin are light and can be thrown further than other Pikmin. They can complete electrical circuits and destroy Electric Gates without taking damage. They grab hold of enemies and headbut them to death. Use this to your advantage to scope out areas your Pikmin can't reach. Note that your crew face no such restriction and can go into the pools of water throughout the game unharmed. With the exception of Blue Pikmin, all Pikmin quickly drown when exposed to water. Many flowers can regrow overnight.Īt the end of every night cycle, your crew consumes one bottle of Juice. Items such as fruit remain where you left it when you return the next day, but any unprocessed corpses will have been scavenged by predators. Also, your Gamepad map will conveniently provide the location of any stray Pikmin.Īny items you moved during the day that did not reach your camp will remain in the position you dropped them the following day. As long as a Pikmin is under direct control of one of your three crew members, it is safe come sundown, regardless of distance from the ship or other crew members. To be safe at Sundown, a Pikmin must either be near an Onion Ship (in a space designated by a white circle on the map) or incorporated into one of your squads. Thus, you must conduct all of your on-planet business during daylight hours- which equates to about 20 minutes. The threat of nocturnal predators forces your spacemen and Pikmin to flee the surface at sundown.
